Why does Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express fail
to download email messages?
Your email account is prone to receiving corrupt email messages.
A corrupt email message is typically an email message, in which the
From field is either blank or contains special characters, such as
&, >, or ?. When your email account receives any such corrupt
email message, Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express fails to
download the messages received to your Inbox. When you click the
Send/Receive button on the toolbar, the Send and Receive dialog box
gets stuck and displays an error, such as:

Another
indicator of receiving a corrupt email message is that when you
click the Send/Receive button, the same messages are downloaded
repeatedly.
In such a situation, you need to perform the following steps:
- Log on to your email account by using the URL: http://webmail.domainname.com/
- Delete all such corrupt messages.
- Click the Purge Deleted link to permanently delete these
messages.
- Log off from your email account.
After performing the above-mentioned steps, you can download your
messages by using Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express.
