Why does Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express fail to download email messages?

Your email account is prone to receiving corrupt email messages. When your email account receives any such corrupt email message, Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express fails to download the messages received to your Inbox. When you click the Send/Receive button on the toolbar, the Send and Receive dialog box gets stuck and displays an error, such as:

Another indicator of receiving a corrupt email message is that when you click the Send/Receive button, the same messages are downloaded repeatedly.

In such a situation, you need to perform the following steps:

  1. Log on to your email account by using the URL: http://webmail.domainname.com/
  2. Delete all such corrupt messages.
  3. Click the Purge Deleted link to permanently delete these messages.
  4. Log off from your email account.

After performing the above-mentioned steps, you can download your messages by using Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express.
